In the Writer’s House #32: Checking in, Novel Progress

Hello Friends,

So sorry for not checking in before now, but my summer has been ridiculous. I’m usually busier in the summer months than the fall or winter, but this year has been over-the-top and I am not getting to my writing which is making me cranky. Anyone relate?

Since I’ve changed my heroine’s career from a preschool teacher to a house flipper/fixer upper, I am rewriting many scenes and the original main plot point won’t work. I’m still thinking out what my new plot will be.  The working title is still Accident Encounter, book 2 in my Chance Encounter Inspirational Romance series. That’s about the only thing the same, since this is a National Novel Writing Month novel I wrote back in 2009. I haven’t looked at it since 2013! Do you know how much technology has changed in just the last 9 years??

Still Reading

The summer reading programs for all of us have ended, but we are still all reading. At least I’m not running to the library 2-3 times a week with one child or another for their programs. I am usually able to write during these times, at least for an hour or so, but sometimes the room has been booked or the kids are using the whole library for their activities.

I’m doing well on my Goodreads challenge this year, just ahead by 2 most of the time, toward my goal of 100 books. We are over the half-way mark, can you believe it? How are you guys doing on your reading? Pretty soon we’ll be reading Christmas books!

Shoulder Update

Another reason I’m not writing as much this summer is that I’ve been dealing with a frozen shoulder and going to physical therapy twice a week and doing exercises daily to work it out. I’ve been doing a lot of driving this summer! The good news though is I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and should wrap up appointments later this month.

I’m not anywhere near ready to think about starting up our home school this year. The way my summer has gone, we probably won’t start until after Labor Day. No way am I going to be ready when the public schools start around here on August 15th!

At least I can write around our school day most days. I love the flexibility of homeschooling and writing, which I’m very grateful for and know I am blessed for being able to do both.

That’s about it from my corner of the world. How is it in yours?

Keep reading and writing!

~~Michelle
