In the Writer’s House #29

Yay for spring! We are finally, finally going to be warm here in southern Illinois. And by warm, I mean 86 degrees and better this week! Ok, so now we’ve gone from winter to summer overnight. Which is typical for the Midwest. Sigh. My tulips are in bloom and seem to be all bunched together. Thank you, squirrels!

Well, at least my fingers will not stiffen as I write anymore. Until we go from summer to winter overnight later on this year. What is a writer to do? I’ll do my best at plugging away at the keyboard, no matter the weather.

Does your library have Heir Force?

Heir Force will soon come to a library near you! I’m in the middle of setting up a vendor account with Baker & Taylor who sells books to libraries. It’s not easy to be an indie author when you want your book available everywhere! There is a process (and a cost, let’s not forget that!) for a single author/company getting their book in as many places as possible.

For those new to my blog (welcome!), Heir Force is my inspirational military romance that takes place at Scott Air Force Base, IL.  Kate has a hard time adjusting after a tragedy and has to come to terms with her worst nightmare. Who can help her? Will Spencer really come to her aid?

If you haven’t read it yet, but want to, simply ask your library to order it as a “publisher backorder” from Baker & Taylor, and they can order it for you so you can read it for free! Even if your’re not in the States, they can order it for your library! And if you do read it, don’t forget to leave an honest review. I like to know I have more than a handful of readers. Authors like readers 🙂 We really do! Otherwise, I might be forced to eat too much chocolate.

What I’m reading

I’m finally caught up to my Goodreads goal for the year so far! I’m even one book ahead. I just finished a WWII book about a baker on the coast of France and how she used her cunning to help her fellow villagers survive. Now, I’m reading a suspense novel, Dangerous Illusions by Irene Hannon. You will hear more about them in my May reading wrap up. I’ll be working on my April reading wrap up soon. Can you believe it’s May already??

May Happenings

We are almost done with our homeschool year, yay!! I’m always ready to be done about mid-March, so kudos for me for keeping us going until now. The summer months mean more writing time and this year, marketing to libraries, big time!

I also have a family wedding to attend this weekend in Nebraska, my home state. It will be great to see my brothers, sister-in-law and many aunts and uncles and cousins.

And then, later this month, we head to Myrtle Beach for vacation!! I am so ready to sit on a beach and do nothing but listen to the lapping waves as I read! Sunshine, water, and books. What can be better than that? I am very much looking forward to it.

What about you? What are you reading? Do you have summer vacation plans?

Happy reading!

~~Michelle
