Can you believe it’s 2018? Where did 2017 go? I’m still amazed at how fast time goes these days. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older…
But no need to agree 🙂
Because Heir Force came out in late November, and I was working on marketing materials, plus doing regular Christmas prep, I did not read as many books in December as I usually do. It wasn’t for lack of trying! I had stacks of Christmas books checked out from the library, but also discovered Hallmark movies on DVD, so watched more movies than usual. #Hearties (via DVD)
I will make it up in January, I’m sure!
My December Reads
I read a fantastic Christmas story, An Endless Christmas by Cynthia Ruchti. I have met this author numerous times at Write to Publish (a writer’s conference in the Chicago area) and she is a wonderful person. I gave this book five stars. Katie is dating Micah and goes home for the week of Christmas. Unbeknownst to Katie, Micah proposes to her in front of his entire family. But she says no. I won’t tell you more, but I really enjoyed it.
I read A Christmas Beginning by Anne Perry which I enjoyed. In this one, a vacationing inspector stumbles into a murder in the small village where he is staying. It takes great patience to find the culprit as so many are shocked it could be anyone they knew.
A delightful story, The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson, was about a stray dog who brings two neighbors together over Christmas.
And The Christmas Shoppe by Melody Carlson was about a stranger coming to town to open up a shop where every used, broken item has a purpose and is free to the right owner.
My favorite book this month was also by Melody Carlson, The Christmas Blessing. This book was about a young woman during WWII who gives birth to a son after she learns her almost-husband has died overseas. She moves to the town where her in-laws live and gets a job. But she and the baby both get ill and need help.
Goodreads Giveaway
My Goodreads giveaway for one of three signed copies of Heir Force is still running. You can enter until the 15th of January. And if you like ebooks, Heir Force is .99 for another week or so.
Speaking of Goodreads, my grand total of books I read for the year was 96. I upped my challenge a little for 2018 to an even 100 since I don’t plan on publishing a book this year…unless my Christmas Cookie Encounter gets going. It would take some major effort to pull that off. We’ll see….
And the winner is….
And the lucky winner from the giveaway on Reading is My SuperPower was: Juanita D! Congrats and happy reading, eating and drinking!
How many books did you read in 2017? Have you made a goal for 2018?
Happy reading!
