Writing Prompt Wednesday #45

Hello Friends,

Writing Prompt Wednesday, michelleconnellwrites.net

Since Labor Day is coming up, I’d thought we’d talk a little about labor in general for this week’s writing prompt. And in particular, your least favorite task or chore you do for your home or business.

My prompt is below.

My least favorite chore at home is washing dishes. Not because I mind the soapy water or germs or clearing off the dishes first, but because the sink is too low for me and I am too tall for it. I am five feet, 10 inches tall. So after the fifth or sixth dish, my back is starting to bother me and I have to rush to finish.

We do have a dishwasher which for years I never used. But after the third child came along (and the fourth) and working more seriously on my writing, we started to use it. My older two load it and my younger two unload it. I rarely have to wash dishes but do on occasion when my older two are gone.

In business, my least favorite chore is keeping up with all the paper. I get sick of paper sometimes! It’s everywhere…via magazines, other mail, shopping receipts, rough drafts, articles to file, recipes to try, insurance papers, banking statements, church bulletins, marketing materials, it never ends!

Despite the labors we have, I am incredibly grateful for the freedoms in this country to pick and choose my work and carry it out without ridicule or persecution or too much government interference (except for the taxes!).

And my working verse is Proverbs 14:23. I’ll let you look it up 🙂

So, how about you? What is your least favorite chore? Share with us!

Happy Labor Day next week!

~~Michelle

  1. I think my least favourite chore is grocery shopping. I always try to go when it’s not too busy. I hate navigating the trolley around crowds of people and waiting in line at the checkouts. On the business side, my least favourite thing to do is ringing people up. I hate talking on the phone.
